A clear night sky offers an ever-changing display of fascinating objects to see — stars, constellations, and bright planets, often the moon, and sometimes special events like meteor showers. The Great Conjunction of 2020
Observing the night sky can be done with no special equipment, although a sky map can be very useful. Binoculars or a good beginner telescope will enhance some experiences and bring some otherwise invisible objects into view. You can also use astronomy apps and software to make your observing easier, and use our Satellite Tracker page powered by N2YO.

At that time, the relative positions of the Earth, sun, and moon will cause us to see the moon half illuminated—on the western right-hand side. Sunlight striking the moon at a shallow angle produces spectacularly illuminated landscapes along the pole-to-pole terminator that separates the lit and dark hemispheres.
First quarter moons rise at noon and set at midnight, so they are visible starting in the afternoon hours. The term "first quarter" refers not to the moon's appearance, but the fact that our natural satellite has now completed the one quarter of its orbit around Earth, counting from the last new moon. On Thursday, April 2, the major main belt asteroid Juno will reach opposition.
At that time, Earth will be passing between the asteroid and the sun, minimizing our distance from Juno and causing it to appear at its brightest and largest for this year. The magnitude 9. On opposition night, Juno will be positioned below the star Delta Virginis, aka Auva, which marks the northwestern corner of Virgo's body.
One week later, Juno's motion northward across the foreground stars red path with labeled date:time will bring it within 0. In the western sky between midnight and dawn on Friday, April 3, the waxing gibbous moon will be positioned less than three finger widths to the lower right or 2.
Observers in western North America will see the moon pass just north of the centre of the cluster. The moon passes through, or close to, this cluster frequently because the Beehive is located only 1 degree north of the ecliptic green line. To better see the cluster's stars, try placing the bright moon just outside the field of view of your binoculars red circle.
In the western sky on the evening of Friday, April 3, Venus' orbital motion red path with date:time labels will carry it through the bright Pleiades Star Cluster, otherwise known as Messier 45, the Seven Sisters, the Hole in the Sky, and Subaru.
Venus passes that cluster every year—but the orbital mechanics of Earth and Venus only produce traverses of the cluster in a dark sky every eight years, making this event a celestial highlight for Venus and the cluster will fit together in the field of view of binoculars for several nights surrounding the 3rd, and within the narrower field of backyard telescopes red circle from April 2 to 4. After dusk in early April annually, the night sky's brightest star, Sirius, or Alpha Canis Majoris, sparkles in the lower part of the southwestern sky.See the week-by-week feature, This Week in Astrologyfor astrological information about the current week, as well as day-by-day overviews of current cosmic energy.

Retrograde-station-direct cycles are essentially illusions that result from our point of view from Earth, simply because the Earth is also orbiting the Sun at a different speed than the other planets.
Mercury turns retrograde more frequently than any other planet. It can never be more than 28 degrees from the Sun, and whenever it reaches its furthest distance from the Sun, it changes direction. As the planet of communication, Mercury retrograde tends to breed a certain level of confusion.
Mercury has rulership over such things as speaking, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, documents, travel, the mail and shipping, and so forth. All of these areas of life are affected when Mercury is functioning in a sluggish state. Decision-making is challenged during Mercury retrograde. Needless to say, it is not advised to sign contracts, engage in important decision-making, or launch a new business. Delays and challenges are more probable with Mercury retrograde.
This period is best used for re-organizing and reflecting. Watch what you say, because it may not come out, or be received, the way you intended. An ephemeris is essentially an astronomical term, but is integral to astrology for making accurate assessments and predictions.
An ephemeris helps chart the trajectory and position of the stars and planets. It comes across as a tabulated journal, which gives away the position of natural and artificial objects in the sky at a given point in time.
The term ephemeris in Latin means a diary or a journal. Since ancient times, the position of the planets have been assigned printed values in a tabular format. These attributes tend to change from time to time with the change in the trajectory of the celestial bodies. As a result, such a tabular compilation would usually last for a day only to be replaced by new values on the following day. Such a diary was, therefore, termed as Ephemeris. With the advancement in technology, modern ephemerides are calculated electronically with the help of mathematical models based on the movement of celestial bodies via-a-vis that of the Earth.
Ephemeris lists the planetary positions using the spherical polar coordinate systema system used by mathematicians and physicians on a variety of applications to plot the trajectory of a moving body.
These coordinates are widely used in preparing maps of stars in the sky, and telescopes. In astronomy, it finds use in determining the movement and the centre of the planets, stars and galaxies. For instance, the astronomers following astronomical events of solar and lunar eclipses, planets retrograde and terrestrial events impacted by the cosmic alignement of stars and planets are interested in knowing the time of their happening. Ephemerides are also used to design the celestial navigation software which helps with spacecraft navigation and can work as a backup option for the global positioning system GPS.
Use in astrology In astrology, Ephemeris is of great value and use as it helps in determining the outcome of a horoscope based on the current planetary positionstheir future trajectory, velocity.
This is vital information which allows the astrologers to ascertain the impact of stars and celestial bodies on an individual ephemeris astrology.
2020 Planetary Overview
Ephemeris provides you with the planetary position by date, which in turn helps you with the positional description of planets along with their respective stars, natural satellites and, galaxies.
The ephemerides usually provide information about celestial bodies through the centuries, including those that are to happen in the future. The system is used to track the movement of comets and asteroids that are erratic in behaviour. However, there are some phenomena that may not be adequately explained by the modern ephemeris due to the disruption caused by loosely researched asteroids.
